Hospitals and health systems always must be prepared top to bottom for a survey from Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the state survey agency, The Joint Commission, or Det Norske Veritas. These surveys can occur for a variety of reasons including recertification, validation of deemed hospitals, complaint and abuse investigations, EMTALA investigations, or self-reported events. Proper preparation can help hospitals avoid and minimize adverse findings during a governmental or accrediting organization survey. This webinar seminar will help hospitals prepare and manage these unannounced surveys.
• Describe what the hospital or health system should do upon notification of surveyors at the door;
• Discuss how to prepare frontline staff for surveyor questions and observations;
• Discuss methods of how to be your own watchdog; and
• Review examples of how the hospital or health system can remain informed of changes in regulations.
